This Month at DWBN

Understanding Women's Health

Women's health isn't something we should only think about when problems arise. Every stage of life builds on the one before it, from understanding your menstrual cycle as a teenager, to preparing your body for pregnancy, recovering after birth, and navigating the changes of perimenopause and menopause.

Join us for a practical and empowering morning as we celebrate Women's Health Week with three passionate local health professionals who will help you better understand your body, recognise what is normal (and what isn't), and give you practical strategies to support your health for years to come.

Whether you're supporting a daughter through puberty, planning a family, raising young children, approaching menopause or simply wanting to feel stronger and more confident in your body, you'll leave with knowledge you can use immediately.

Understanding Your Cycle: The Foundation of Women's Health

Your menstrual cycle is much more than just your period, it considered the "5th vital sign" of your overall health and has a significant influence on your muscles, joints, ligaments, energy levels, pain and recovery.

In this session, Bron will explore the journey from the first period through to perimenopause, explaining how hormonal changes affect the musculoskeletal system at every stage of life. You'll learn how to understand and track your cycle, recognise common symptoms, and discover practical strategies to support movement, reduce pain, optimise exercise, and improve wellbeing. Bron will also discuss how parents can confidently support daughters through puberty while helping women navigate the transition into perimenopause with greater knowledge and confidence.

About Bron
Bronwyn Baillie is an Osteopath with a special interest in women's health, pregnancy, postpartum care, pelvic health and paediatrics. After spending a decade in Brisbane building her women's health practice and working closely with midwives and maternity care providers, she has returned home to the Central West to care for local families. Bron is passionate about empowering women through education and helping them better understand their bodies across every stage of life.

Pelvic Health for Life: From Birth Preparation to Recovery

Your pelvic floor does far more than you might realise, and caring for it shouldn't begin only after problems appear.

Catherine will explore how pelvic health influences pregnancy, birth preparation, postnatal recovery and long-term wellbeing. She'll discuss why early assessment, strength and education can make a significant difference, while also addressing the lasting impact pregnancy and birth can have on the body and how you can support yourself through these changes.

About Catherine
Catherine McDuling is an Osteopath and Strength and Conditioning Coach with more than ten years' experience working in rural and regional Australia. She combines hands-on osteopathic treatment with rehabilitation and strength-based care, with additional training in pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal care, paediatrics and sports rehabilitation. Catherine is passionate about helping women build strong foundations for lifelong health and movement.

Perimenopause: What Really Matters for Your Health

Perimenopause is often surrounded by conversations about hormones, hot flushes and weight gain, but there's so much more to the story. This stage of life is an opportunity to step back, look at the bigger picture and focus on the habits that have the greatest impact on your long-term health and wellbeing.

In this practical and empowering session, Melissa will introduce her Health Dashboard framework, exploring the key areas that influence how we feel through perimenopause and beyond. Together, we'll look at helping you identify where to focus your energy rather than trying to change everything at once.  You'll leave with a better understanding of healthy ageing, practical strategies you can start immediately, and the confidence to support your body through this next chapter with compassion instead of criticism.

About Melissa
